Golden Britain – Post Olympics?
So how might the Olympic Experience change the Blighty we all know and half-love? Will we all get fitter? And save the NHS a stack of money? Will it now be harder to abolish or water down said NHS, thanks to Danny Boyle? Will we finally accept that we are as multicultural as New York and start celebrating the fact, rather than worrying about it?
Will we discover a new national confidence that is not related to imperialism or the Victorian Era? A creative confidence? An economic confidence?
Or will the double-dip recession erase this brief August glow?
We decide, I guess. No?

It's definitely a turning point. Fitter? Possibly. Save the NHS? Reform has to happen in some shape or form. Accept we are multi-cultural? People who live in multi-cultural communities are already there. But there is a big difference from being accustomed to living around people from different ethnicities to seeing the country's identity as multi-cultural. History is the impediment in many respects. Britain has such a grand history, which has been white-washed in more ways than one. The multi-cultural history and contribution of Empire to Britain, the personalities, the sacrifices, atrocities, and shared victories. When we update that history, the Little Englanders, and other rejectionists will catch up with a modern interpretation of Britain. An update the rest of the world will eagerly buy into, and that will profit all. The image projected during the Olympics is just a taster of what could come. Now I'll get off my soapbox.
